  1. How does counselling take place during admission?

Counselling in the admission process involves allotment of colleges to the candidates as per their choice on the basis of merit.

Selection of College

To take part in counselling the candidate must checkout the previous year’s cut-off of last rank intakes of respective college which he/she prefers or desires. Then he/she needs to compare it to his/her rank in the entrance test. This comparison will help him/her select those colleges in which the probability of his/her admission is highest.

Registration for Counselling

The Counselling of IP University is held online for some programmes and offline for the rest. After the declaration of the Entrance Test Results, short listed candidates are called for Counselling during which the admission procedures are conducted. Candidates are required to deposit a Counselling participation fee of Rs. 1000 (non-refundable) at the time of registration for counselling. The candidate will have to register himself/herself online. The University will ask him/her to fill choices of colleges he/she wants. Now, keeping in mind the cut-off rank which he/she compared in step 1 above, he/she has to fill her/his choice of college.  Your preferences of choice of college will help you to get admission into a good college. Make sure the college you choose has a good placement record, is close to your home, offers extra-curricular activities and within your rank. The candidates are expected to fill college choices carefully

Counselling Process

IP University Counselling is conducted in three rounds and includes steps like choice filling, seat allotment, fees payment, freezing of allotment and withdrawal of admission. Some programmes have online counselling rounds while the rest hold the counselling rounds offline. In case of any vacancy after the main Counselling, Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University holds spot counselling as well.

If you have got admission in the college you wanted than freeze the seat else move for the sliding. Sliding means you will have to appear in the next round of counselling (this does not guarantee your admission to the college of your choice). Take a wise decision.

Counselling is done strictly on the basis of merit starting from the first rank against vacant seats.

Candidate who attended first counselling may also attend the second round of counselling, but they have to pay counselling fees of Rs. 1,000 for each round of counselling.

A candidate who fails to appear in person on the notified date and time of counselling, shall forfeit his/her claim for the seat which could have been offered to him/her, had he/she been present on his/her turn.

  1. What is Management Quota?

Management Quota is a government authorized mechanism provided to private or deemed University by which students can secure Direct Admission in an institute.

Management Quota is only applicable in Self-Financing Institutions because they don’t receive any grants from the government. Hence, government allows private Institutes to fill 15% of their seat through management/NRI Quota Seats.

85% of the seats are filled on merit basis and the remaining 15% seats can be filled by the management of that institute. However, there is an eligibility criteria for the management Quota Seats as well.
